Arts
As a classical education institution, we teach our scholars to embrace the arts and find beauty in everything they achieve. This is essential because it fosters a sense of belonging and helps cultivate the virtues that lead to a meaningful and joyful life. At True North, our scholars engage extensively with the arts. Currently, students participate in a variety of disciplines, including the fine arts, drama, and music. Each of these programs offer a unique opportunity to grow in creativity, expression, and appreciation for beauty.
“Music and the arts are the most potent means of education, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the soul and shape it with grace and order.” -Plato

True North Suzuki Strings Program
True North has partnered with Suzuki strings experts from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. Through the Suzuki method, students first focus on listening and imitating before moving to reading music. The True North Strings program is composed of students from all four campuses – Sunset, Dadeland, Pinecrest, and Gateway – that come together to practice and perform incredible classical music ensembles including violin, viola, and cello.
In its second year, with a more than 70-player ensemble, True North musicians have had the opportunity to join the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music for a wonderful performance at Maurice Gusman Concert Hall and concluded last year with an end-of-year performance in our Sunset Campus Assembly Room.
Some of the notable compositions performed by our scholars include: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star by W.A. Mozart, Ode to Joy by L van Beethoven, Perpetual Motion by S. Suzuki, and Sahara Crossing by Richard Myer.
True North Drama Clubs
True North has a variety of Drama Clubs including Dadeland and Sunset.
While our Dadeland Drama Club put on an incredible performance of Alice in Wonderland, our Sunset campus proudly presented its very first musical – The Wizard of Oz- during the 2024-2025 school year. In fact, our Sunset Drama Club members came together and put on a two-day exclusive Broadway style performance at the Miami-Dade McCarthy Hall Theater. The performance was so well-executed that our scholars’ were invited to perform in events, like the 2024-2025 True North Donor Reception and The Greater Miami Festival & Events Association, Inc. 12th Annual Conference.
Music Program
Our music program presents two signature programs each year, the Celebration of Freedom Show and the Holiday Show. Both shows serve as cultural guideposts, highlighting what is important to us as a school. Beyond the showcase of our scholars’ musical talent, these shows are meant to illuminate important Truths and the Beauty of our culture and traditions.
"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all."
